A30 – Easter Travel Update
Are you are travelling to Cornwall for Easter?
If you are planning a visit to Cornwall over the Easter Bank Holiday then please consider the following information to help ease your journey.
The A30 is a major trunk route into Cornwall and drivers can experience delays at busy periods through the Temple area on Bodmin Moor.
This is why Kier are upgrading the current road to dual carriageway standard.
Drivers are asked to avoid peak travelling times or plan an alternative route prior to reaching the ‘pinch-point’ at Temple.
Please avoid the following ‘Peak Travel Times’ as traffic soon builds up during busy holiday periods:-
Westbound A30 – Fridays between 12noon and 6pm and Saturdays from 8am until 4pm.
Eastbound A30: Fridays 10am until 4pm; Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm. Please remember – Monday mornings can also be busy following Bank Holidays
Please check out traffic reports well before reaching your destination. You can find up–to-the-minute traffic news on the Traffic England website or listen to local radio wherever you are. Incidents/delays are often reported on Twitter at @highwaysSWEST; or @DC_Police and finally @BBCTravelSW. Traffic updates are also available at motorway services.
In the event of long delays on the A30 Highways England will update their Variable Message System (VMS) on the southbound M5 before Exeter giving you time to take an alternative route into Cornwall.
If you are visiting or leaving Cornwall, “Have a safe trip.”
We value your feedback.
“To assist local residents, Kier have opened a ‘Help Desk’ to discuss any clarification on the scheme. Please call our Help Desk number, leave a message, name and email address and we will endeavour to respond quickly. Alternatively, please contact us via email; we welcome all comments.”
